Our Story
Sheida and Aida started Adaptis in October 2022 to turn their PhD research into automated tools for the buildings industry. Six months later, they raised a $1.5M pre-seed round led by 2048 Ventures, with participation from Blue Vision Capital and Powerhouse Ventures. Earlier this year, we closed a seed round (details TBA this fall), and we are now a team of 25+ people between Toronto and New York. In that time, our product has graduated from idea to prototype to full commercialization stage. Adaptis has been revenue-generating since its inception, and today boasts an impressive roster of Canadian clients including Triovest, Minto, and Avenue Living. We’ve worked in every major province in Canada and expect to achieve similar penetration globally by 2026.

Our team
Adaptis is a diverse team of architects, engineers, data scientists, and sustainability experts devoted to creating a decarbonized, circular built world. We draw on our collective experience working at industry-leading firms and conducting advanced research at top universities. Our team is smart, meticulous and results-oriented—but friendly, caring, and highly supportive, too. (Yes, we're mostly Canadians).
Adaptis co-founders Sheida Shahi and Aida Mollaei are among the world’s foremost experts in quantitative methods for building decarbonization and circular construction. Both women earned their PhDs in construction management from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Waterloo, and their collaborative research became the proprietary, patent-pending methodologies that power Adaptis's whole lifecycle carbon management platform.
